Description

What Is Levitra?

Levitra is a prescription medicine containing vardenafil, a PDE5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. It is manufactured by Bayer. Levitra works by enhancing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. It does not create an erection without arousal. It typically begins working within 25 to 60 minutes and remains effective for around 4 to 5 hours. Available in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg tablets.

How Does It Work?

During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide is released into penile tissue, triggering cyclic GMP production. This relaxes smooth muscle in blood vessel walls and allows blood to flow in. Levitra temporarily blocks the PDE5 enzyme that breaks down cyclic GMP. Vardenafil has a slightly different molecular structure compared to sildenafil. This subtle difference can influence how individual patients respond and experience side effects.

Dosing & How to Take

Available in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg. Take 30–60 minutes before sexual activity. Taking on an empty or lighter stomach may allow it to work more quickly. High-fat meals can delay onset. Do not take more than one dose per day.

Levitra vs Generic Vardenafil

Levitra contains vardenafil as its active ingredient. Generic vardenafil contains the same active ingredient at equivalent strengths. They are considered therapeutically equivalent when sourced from regulated UK pharmacies. Differences relate to brand, manufacturer, packaging and cost. Some men prefer the reassurance of the original brand.

Levitra vs Sildenafil (Viagra)

Both are PDE5 inhibitors working via the same pathway, but have slight variation in chemical structure, minor differences in onset time for some patients, and individual variation in side effect profile. Some men who do not respond optimally to Sildenafil may respond better to Levitra, although overall success rates are similar across populations.

FAQ’s

Q: How quickly does Levitra work?

A: Levitra may begin working in as little as 25 minutes for some men. However, allowing 30 to 60 minutes is generally recommended for optimal effect.

Q: How long does Levitra last?

A: Levitra usually remains effective for approximately 4 to 5 hours. Its duration is comparable to Sildenafil and shorter than Tadalafil.

Q: Can Levitra be taken with food?

A: It can be taken with or without food, but high-fat meals can delay its absorption. A lighter meal is recommended if you want faster onset.

Q: Is Levitra better than Viagra?

A: Both are effective PDE5 inhibitors. Some men who do not respond optimally to Sildenafil (Viagra) may respond better to Levitra. Overall success rates are similar. Choice is often guided by personal experience.

Q: Who should consider Levitra?

A: Levitra may be particularly suitable for men who have not responded fully to Sildenafil, who prefer a moderate-duration option, or who have experienced mild side effects with other PDE5 inhibitors.
